People love adding search boxes to websites, but have you ever thought about why they are there?
Search boxes are needed for sites that are large or complicated, where it is difficult to find things. For those types of sites, a search bar makes lots of sense.
When you add search to a site with less than ten pages that’s like putting a staircase in a house with no second level. Why are the stairs there if there are no rooms? If the stairs are there (search bar), people will have certain expectations.
If your site doesn’t need really need a search bar, make the experience simpler and cleaner for your visitors by removing it. You can always turn it back on if you need it in the future.
